Privacy statement
We, Gezondheidsdienst voor Dieren B.V. (hereinafter: Royal GD), respect the privacy of our relations and therefore handle personal data with care. We comply with the applicable privacy laws and regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
In this privacy statement, we inform you about which personal data we process, why we do so, to whom we provide personal data and what rights you have. In addition to personal data, we also process other (confidential) information. Of course, we always handle this in an extremely careful manner and we have taken the necessary (security) measures.
Certain third-party services or products used by GD may be subject to additional privacy terms.

When is personal data processed?
We process personal data when you, for example:
- fill in a form (digitally);
- you subscribe to our newsletters/trade magazines;
- send us a letter or an e-mail;
- use our (online) services and/or products;
- calls our customer service and/or Veekijker;
- place an order;
- send in sample material;
- participate in training, conferences and/or lectures offered by us;
- visit us or speak to one of our employees.
We may also process personal data for purposes including:
- conducting research;
- administration & invoicing;
- our collection service.
We may also process your personal data if you are in contact with us as a (potential) customer, supplier or other (business) relation.
What personal data do we process?
- name, address, telephone number, e-mail address, date of birth;
- account number;
- IP addresses, log data;
- application details (such as curriculum vitae);
- security camera images;
- in exceptional cases, medical data of livestock farmers in the context of public health (e.g. in the event of a possible zoonosis).
The personal data we process varies depending on the situation.
For what purposes do we use personal data?
We use personal data for effective and efficient business operations, services and communication. Below are the purposes for which we process personal data and the corresponding legal basis(es).

Execution of agreements and maintaining (customer) relationships
For example, to deliver services or products, send invoices and maintain contact. We may also use your personal data to handle complaints.
Legal basis: the agreement(s) concluded or to be concluded with you or legitimate interest.
- Use of our online services and applications
Z-Login gives you access to our online services, such as VeeOnline, SGOnline, GD-webshop and Z-Factuur (Z-Invoice). These services provide you with insight into your data, orders or invoices. We use your personal data for tools (e.g. FlockVision or other applications) that enable you to monitor animal health and welfare on your farm. Based on the data, we can advise you on your business operations and optimise our services for you.
Legal basis: the agreement(s) concluded with you or consent.
- Research and improvement of animal health
We process personal data for research purposes, including scientific research and for animal health monitoring, aimed at preventing and controlling animal diseases, improving animal health and in the context of public health. In doing so, personal data will be anonymized or pseudonymised as much as possible.
These may involve internal research projects or research commissioned by third parties. This involves practice-oriented and/or scientific research that forms an important part of our services and social task.
Legal basis: consent, performance of contract or legitimate interest, as the results contribute to the improvement of our products and services, and to animal health in a broader sense.
- Marketing activities
We use contact details for mailings or promotions, for example newsletters or invitations to a meeting.
Legal basis: consent where necessary or legitimate interest for direct marketing activities.
- Communication
This includes sending information about our (new) products or services and information related to animal health via (digital) newsletters, trade magazines or other means (e.g. social media). It also includes providing information about, for example, conferences, lectures, presentations, workshops or other meetings.
Legal basis: consent where necessary for newsletters and/or the possibility to unsubscribe from them and legitimate interest for other communication purposes.
- Job application
Job seekers can submit personal data via our website, among other channels. This data is sent to our HR department and is used to contact you and for the application procedure. This data is stored for a maximum of four weeks after the end of the application procedure and, with your consent, for a maximum of one year. If the application procedure is successfully completed and you join our company, we will include your data in your personnel file.
Legal basis: legitimate interest (during and after the application process), consent (after the application process) and legal obligation.
- Visitor registration and camera surveillance
For the security of people, buildings and information, we request visitor details. Security cameras are installed in certain areas of our grounds, buildings and laboratories.
Legal basis: legitimate interest, because our property and employees need to be secured.
Balancing of interests in cases of legitimate interest
When we process personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest, we carefully weigh up our interests against your privacy interests in advance. In doing so, we consider, among other things, the nature of the data, the impact on your rights and your reasonable expectations. We only process personal data on this basis if it is necessary for our business operations or for the interests mentioned above, does not have a disproportionate impact on your rights and appropriate safeguards have been taken to protect your privacy.
To whom do we provide personal data?
We only share personal data with third parties (including our sister companies) if this is necessary for our services or business operations or if we are legally obliged to do so.
Examples of these third parties:
- delivery or collection services;
- trade associations;
- public authorities;
- regulators, tax authorities and/or investigative authorities (only as required by law or with your prior consent);
- dairy companies;
- pharmacists;
- veterinary practices;
- slaughterhouses;
- ICT service providers;
- banks/payment service providers.
Our processors always act in accordance with our instructions, and we ensure appropriate security measures.
Outside the EU?
We do not transfer personal data to countries outside the European Economic Area. If a third party engaged by us does so as part of its services to us, this will only be done with our prior consent and if appropriate protective measures have been taken.
How do we protect personal data?
We believe it is important to store personal data securely. For this reason, we take technical and organisational measures to prevent the loss, unauthorised access or use of personal data. We do this by, among other things:
- using secure servers and firewalls;
- encrypting data;
- physical access security to our systems;
- information security in accordance with ISO 27001;
- using virus scanners;
- training of employees.
How long do we retain personal data?
We do not store personal data for longer than is necessary for the purposes described above. In doing so, we consider:
- the expectation that personal data will still be used for the purpose for which it was obtained;
- the statutory retention periods;
- our legitimate interests.
As soon as personal data is no longer needed, it is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
You have the following rights:
- right of access: you can request your data from us;
- right of correction;
- right of deletion, we may not be able to delete your data because, for example, we still need it or because it is still required by law;
- right to object to processing;
- right to data transfer.
